The name <em>Defender<\/em> It was only introduced in 1990 to distinguish the model from the more luxurious Land Rover Discovery. Because this car dates from 1986, it is therefore a true Land Rover 110 and, in principle, not yet a Defender.<\/p>\n<p>The 110 was developed for harsh conditions. Coil springs, permanent four-wheel drive, and a lockable central differential ensure traction off the beaten track. Thanks to the body-on-chassis construction, parts are relatively easy to replace: a major advantage when field maintenance is required.<\/p>\n<p>The model range appeared as the 90, 110, 127, and 130. Due to changing European standards, production came to an end in 2016; on January 29, 2016, the last Defender rolled off the assembly line. The modern successor, the Land Rover Defender (L663), went into production in 2019. For many enthusiasts, however, the classic 110 remains the iconic Land Rover.<\/p>\n<h4>The history of this car<\/h4>\n<p>This Land Rover 110 was built in Solihull on January 22, 1986. On January 27, the vehicle departed for the Royal Army Distribution Centre in Hilton, where it was registered with a military license plate on January 30, 1986. <strong>99 KE 79<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h4>Service in the British Army<\/h4>\n<p>On January 26, 1987, the Land Rover was transferred to the quartermaster of the 2nd Infantry Division Headquarters Signals Regiment. On January 29, a unit change to the 2nd Infantry Division H2 Signals Regiment followed. The vehicle remained with this unit for the remainder of its military career.<\/p>\n<p>Remnants of the original radio setup are still present behind the front seats. A reconditioned engine was installed in 1995. The Land Rover was part of the British Army of the Rhine (BAOR).<\/p>\n<h4>From military service to Heritage 4\u00d74<\/h4>\n<p>On February 17, 1999, the vehicle was officially disposed of and included in the sales inventory of Disposal Sales (BFG) at Hampshire Barracks in M\u00f6nchengladbach. On April 11, 2000, it was sold to Van Dam in Bennekom.<\/p>\n<p>Heritage 4\u00d74 purchased the Land Rover on April 18, 2025.
