This sets it apart from our other Series 3 109, which is a 24-volt version.<\/p>\n<h4>Service in the British Army<\/h4>\n<p>The vehicle was built on September 10, 1980, and shipped on September 23 to the Central Vehicle Depot in Ashchurch, Gloucestershire. There it received the military registration number. <strong>58 HG 61<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Around 17 February 1981, the Land Rover departed for the British Army of the Rhine&#039;s Ordnance Depot in Antwerp. The vehicle is left-hand drive and was intended for use in Germany. On 11 December 1981, it was transferred to the forward depot in Recklinghausen. On 21 September 1982, it ended up at BAOR&#039;s 63rd Ordnance Company Depot.<\/p>\n<p>During this period, the vehicle was driven remarkably little. On January 21, 1987, the depot itself put it into use for logistical tasks on the site: delivering equipment, meals for people working elsewhere, and patrols with dogs along the fence. There were also already benches in the cargo area at that time.<\/p>\n<p>We spoke to veterans of this unit; they recognized the vehicle. After the First Gulf War, it was replaced by a more recent Land Rover Defender returning from the Gulf region.<\/p>\n<h4>From military service to Heritage 4\u00d74<\/h4>\n<p>The Land Rover was deregistered in M\u00f6nchengladbach on November 15, 1994, and sold to the firm Van Dam on February 23, 1995. Heritage 4\u00d74 purchased the vehicle on July 10, 2024, and registered it later.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of purchase, this Series 3 109 had driven only 32,000 kilometers.
